The youngest of Xàbia stand up against the culture of hate

28 March 2023 - 16: 48

"Xàbia Lovers" is the new initiative of the Xàbia Department of Youth and Education against the culture of hate. Six local schools and the Children's Council have been involved in it.

The term "Lovers" is the opposite of "haters", so topical with the rise of the internet and which defines those individuals who systematically show negative or hostile attitudes towards any issue, inciting social confrontation and regardless of the emotional impact it can cause on other people.

Councilwoman Montse Villaverde He explained that this project is part of the strategy of educating cities and its objective is to make young people aware of the importance of empathy, respect and help to improve as a society. The Youth department has developed this plan in several phases.

The first is by conducting surveys in schools in the municipality, with questions to find out prejudices or stereotypes about groups such as the gypsy ethnic group, the Arab or the LGTBI or situations such as poverty, machismo or special educational needs.

Later, they entered the fifth and sixth grade classrooms with a participatory dynamic that made visible the importance of words, intentional or thoughtless, and the impact they can have on others.

Finally, the Consell dels Xiquets has worked on how to deal with these hateful behaviors and a decalogue has been prepared for its prevention.

The representatives of this council have presented their conclusions that include using constructive communication, putting yourself in the place of others, respecting everyone equally, trying to intervene to end bullying situations, being kind and calm, encouraging friendship, empathy and solidarity, managing emotions, offering help to others, proposing solutions to conflicts and taking charge of the impact of their actions on others.

Mayor, José Chulvi, congratulated the promoters of the project and thanked the centers for their willingness to collaborate. The boys and girls have been encouraged to be part of this change from "haters to lovers" and to demonstrate that "the climate of confrontation, gratuitous insults and prejudices do not contribute anything positive to society, but rather make it a place poorest and most hostile place to live”.

In the face of the frantic pace imposed by society, Chulvi has appealed to recover reflection on the impact that words and deeds have on others and not to discriminate difference as something negative.

The truth is that I go out into the streets and I only see hatred in children everywhere, luckily we have politicians and councilors who invent all the problems that are necessary so that the mangers of the Town Hall can justify what they are paid for not really contribute anything to those of us who pay their salaries.

While the Arenal beach is full of dog shit for letting in the "new children", since others really have it.

But these are hateful words in the ears of progretas.

  2. Mother says:

If the children had parents with half a brain, they would know that a politician does not run the Campaign for free.

  3. citizen says:

    Two things
    1. What we must say to children and young people and to their teachers is to pay attention to the difference between what politicians say and what they do.
    2. Madam Councillor, precisely because of education, it is better to speak in our languages. Valencian and/or Spanish. Be an educator.

  4. Miquel says:

Children must be reminded that hate begins in politics with politicians.
Boys, girls, don't listen to the words of a politician, they will always try to manipulate.
