Fifty Xàbia neighbors have traveled this long weekend to France in cultural exchanges that take place annually between Amics Thiviers associations and Friends of Jávea.
On this occasion, it was the children of the children's soccer team CD Jávea and their families who participated in the day of coexistence between the twinned municipalities, playing a friendly match against club team counterpart Les Thiberienne football.
In addition to participating in the sporting event, the delegation met xabiera beautiful towns such as Carcassone, Brantôme, Saint Jean de Cole, the castles of Hautefort and Bourdeilles or Andrévias farm geese. And above all, the exchange served to strengthen ties of friendship with friends during these days we have welcomed at home and in fact hosts tours and activities brotherhood.
On behalf of the Javea Town Hall the councilor was there Marta Bañuls, who participated in the official reception given to the group of xabieros by both the mayor of Thiviers and the national deputy Colette Langlat. Bañuls gave them a commemorative plaque in memory of this new cultural exchange.
For its part, the association Amics Thiviers, chaired by Ismael Doménech took as gifts for tennis club Thiviers shirt and a poster of David Ferrer with the signature of the athlete and one of the rackets with which he played the Roland Garros tournament.
The most emotional moment of the trip was lived in the brotherhood dinner between the two associations when the French asked for a minute of silence in memory of Isabel Gavilá, a neighbor of Xàbia recently deceased and who has participated for many years in these meetings between Xàbia and Thiviers that schoolchildren from both municipalities started in the 70 years and who had as their most significant achievement the official twinning between the two populations.
