The Fundación Humana Pueblo para Pueblo, in charge of textile waste in Xàbia, is renovating the entire network of containers that are installed in the town. At the moment, the non-profit entity has changed half, about 20, of the 42 that are located in different parts of the municipality. The rest will be replaced in the coming weeks.
The reason for this action is to offer a better selective collection service for used clothing, footwear, accessories and home textiles that citizens no longer use.
According to data provided by Humana, from January to August 2021, 72.183 kilos of used textile have been recovered in Xàbia. These clothes are given a second life through reuse or recycling.
The more than 72 tons recovered are equivalent to 324.000 garments that have not ended up as waste in a landfill and therefore, has avoided the emission of 228 tons of CO2.
