The Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports has convened the entrance tests to the vocational training cycles of medium and higher grade for the next days 1 and 2 July. These tests, to which last year around 500 applicants were presented, are aimed at all those interested in pursuing VET studies without meeting the academic requirements for access.
The current educational regulations stipulate that those who hold the graduate degree in Compulsory Secondary Education (ESO) or the Baccalaureate degree may attend the intermediate and higher level vocational training courses. Likewise, it also provides access to these studies for those applicants who, although they do not have the academic requirements, pass an entrance test regulated by the educational administrations.
The general director of Vocational Training and Special Education, Manuel Gomicia, has stressed "the importance of convening these entrance exams to VET training cycles because they constitute one of the measures that make it easier for people to continue in education and training, specifically those who for some reason left the educational system without any degree or with insufficient qualifications to continue their studies ".
In-person tests
The entrance tests will be face-to-face if the health authorities allow it and will be developed taking into account the instructions for separation between the applicants and implementing the disinfection and cleaning protocols established by the health authorities to guarantee the safety of both students and teachers at the time of taking the exams.
The exams for access to intermediate level training cycles will be done in all the public teaching centers that teach this stage, while those for access to higher level training cycles will be done in the public educational centers that offer cycles related to the option chosen by the applicants.
Registrations
The registration period for the tests is from May 25 to 29. In view of the situation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports, and in order to avoid trips to present applications in educational centers, has enabled the possibility of sending them by email to the secretariat of the educational centers where you want to take the test.
In the resolution of the call for the entrance exams to the FP cycles published in the DOGV (see here), in addition to the application forms, the examining educational centers of the entrance exam to the training cycles of medium and higher grade, as well as the address and email of the center, through which interested persons will send the request, as well as the required documentation.
Applicant requirements
To attend the entrance exams to the intermediate degree, you must be 17 years old or complete them during this year 2020, while for those of higher degree you must be 19 years old or fulfill them this year. People who prove that they are in possession of a vocational training degree may take the entrance exams to higher level cycles when they are at least 18 years old this year, taking into account the result of the test only for the purpose of admission to Higher-level training cycles when they choose to participate in the admission process by the contingent corresponding to the entrance exam.
The certificate that certifies having passed the entrance test is valid throughout the national territory and will allow those who do not meet the academic requirements of direct access to qualify for the training cycles. For this student body, the centers will reserve 20% of the vacant places, a proportion that may be extended in the event that there are not enough requests from the student body who attends other access fees.
