Women in the region are demanding equality policies in Xàbia

Xàbia hosted last weekend the day for Equality "Women's rights in times of crisis"Organized by the Xarxa de Dones of the Marina Alta and the Department of Equality.

Sociologist Teresa Yeves and lecturer in economic analysis María Luisa Moltó, analyzed the causes of the economic crisis and its reperscusiones on the process of gender equality, clearly stating the need for greater regulation and distribution of wealth, greater transparency and democracy and the essential increase in the number of women in government places and spaces where decisions are made, always under an egalitarian and social perspective.

To conclude the need for institutions to maintain equality policies and prioritize aid and development budgets of this law it said.

The event was the performance of the clown Virginia Imaz, who for half an hour everyday situations represented several women.

The Cabal Women Pego group, the Matria association in defense of battered women, and the women's association of Orba also attended the weekend in Xàbia.
