La xabiera, Marina Tiscar, and her designs, finalists for the National New Talent Swimwear Fashion Award 2022

February 10 from 2022 - 09: 10

The 5th edition of the New Talent National Swimwear Fashion Award 2022 has announced the new finalists. On this occasion, eight women make up the list of chosen designers and among them is the young woman from Xàbia, Marina Tiscar Tortajada.

The 'Whoever you want' ('be who you want to be, dress as you want') by Marina has been one of those chosen among the more than 400 presented; without a doubt, a pride and "surprise" for the young xabiera designer who is now studying fashion and pattern making.

"Being chosen is already a prize for me. When I found out that my collection had gone to the final phase, I didn't believe it," the xabiera told this newsroom. And it is that, Marina, had kept her presentation to the contest secret, "when I found out about the call I did not pay attention, I did not have time to dedicate myself to it, but in the end, in the last week of the term I decided to present myself. I worked hard the days but without hope of winning, in fact, I had not told anyone that I had opted for this award and it has been a great joy".

Cuban-inspired designs

The bathroom collection created by the young designer is inspired by Cuba and Cuban women. The striking colors of this country and the ruffles are the main characteristics of this selected collection made up of eight designs, two for men and six for women, three of which also had to wear a clothing accessory.

Marina's swimsuits and bikinis will see the light of day next June in Benidorm, in the final phase of the National Bathing Fashion Contest organized by the Mediterránea Fashion Beach.

Marina explains that now she has to get to work sewing the eight designs, as well as the outfit that will be part of the Bikini's 75th anniversary celebration.

The final phase, from which the winner will emerge, will consist of two catwalks and will feature the novelty of a newly created award, sponsored by the designer Manuel de Gotor, which will award a male garment belonging to one of the finalist collections, thus awarding the named 'Atlante Award' for the best male swimwear design.

Marina Tiscar and her first prizes

The commitment to training and design talent made in Spain is clearly an open door for young people or for those who are starting out in a new professional world.

Marina has managed to pass to the final phase of a National Contest for her great designs in swimwear, but this has not been the only good opportunity for the young woman from Xàbia. Just a few years ago, when she was still studying design, she was already selected at the Children's Fashion Fair (FIMI) for one of her designs.
