August 31 from 2018 - 07: 41

Although Jesus Pobre has been spoken of as one of the few municipalities that still maintains the realization of l'Escaldà, El Poble Nou de Benitatxell is another place that continues with this tradition.

Poor families such as Pascual, Torres, Vidal, Gilabert, Pastor and Estarlich continue to carry out this traditional agricultural work of the Marina Alta, l'Escaldà de la pansa that BIC has been declared (Property of Immaterial Interest of the Valencian Heritage).

The process and dissemination of the activity

To turn the grapes into raisins, the grapes undergo a process of scaling in a boiler for a few minutes and then extend over the hurdles, which are exposed to the sun for drying and in a few days has already become a raisin.

The Councilor for Communication and Education of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell, Myra Van't Hoff, who is Dutch, attended for the first time l'escaldà and she has been so impressed that she is committed to disseminating it so that foreign residents can also learn about this traditional process by publishing an illustrated story for children in three languages.

"It is important to continue putting in value what a few centuries ago was the sustenance of so many families in this region. It is a practice that now enjoys protection but that in the region has declined a lot. However, in El Poble Nou de Benitatxell there is still a presence that goes beyond the testimonial as there are several families who continue to practice them " the mayor has pointed.
