14 September 2017 - 16: 10

Five months ago, the Xàbia Port Association has Cande Ros as its new president. A neighbor of Xàbia who is now in charge of carrying out new proposals and initiatives in the neighborhood of Customs of the Sea. Ros has made a balance to Xàbia.com how the summer has gone and explained what the short-term projects are.

"The Association is clear about continuing with what works, so the closest thing is the Sea of Tapes, an event that has always worked very well and that this year will be celebrated on 13, 14 and 15 October ", said Cande.

In these recent festivals of Loreto, Xàbia Port has actively collaborated with the Festival Commission with the contest of decking streets, shop windows and balconies, "We want to promote this type of activity in which the neighborhood participates. This year some prizes have been awarded in this contest and we hope it will be consolidated during the next years", affirmed the president of the Association.

And is that, as explained Ros, "Everything that involves parties brings business to the hospitality and shops". The balance of the summer season, according to Cande, has been very uneven, "Easter has worked very well before the summer, but the first half of August has been uneven and yet the second has been fabulous and at parties it has been a total success for the hospitality industry."

New projects

For the next week, the board of directors of Xàbia Port is scheduled a meeting to publicize the events facing Christmas, "One possibility that we have under way would be to make a fair with a market for the day of Kings and in it that all the stores of the port can collaborate with the objective that people approach, eat and buy in the Customs premises" said Cande and added that "We do not want to coincide with events in the town or El Arenal, in fact I suggest to the associations of Arenal and Xàbia Histórico that we associate the three nuclei and be able to have more strength when asking for improvements and demands."

Also, during this summer the actions have been strengthened and from the Association of Xàbia Port have commented with the councilman of culture that "for the next year there will be a fixed musical event in the marine neighborhood, although we have not thought about what type and where it would be done".

Shortcomings in the neighborhood of Duanes

Cande Ros highlighted the good relationship he has with former President Yolanda Ponce, "In fact it has remained on the board of directors with Amparo and Andrés, we have good tuning and they made a good management since they left a surplus in the association, but they needed to rest from being in the front line."

On the neighborhood of Customs, the president of Xàbia Port tells us that she needs many things: "We have many projects that we cannot carry out because they are the responsibility of the Town hall. We are in good harmony with the consistory, and we hope that everything we have asked for can be done."

As for the new parking permit, "It has been a success but it needs an improvement with signs in different languages, asphalting, lighting and litter bins". Ros has also mentioned the needs of the area of Bartolomé Ros as litter bins and a better cleaning.

Before the urbanization of the avenue of Lepanto, the president of merchants and hoteliers has indicated that it will give a new image to Customs, "There will be more parking lots and there will be a diaphanous and open space for larger performances, without disturbing the traffic and the neighbors."

Beware of the "success" of the hospitality industry. That this all "petao" of people, that put a thousand tables for those who then do not have kitchen to serve them and take an hour to bring the food, that the eventual additional staff is a disaster without the slightest idea of catering, that is not a success for anyone except the owner of the premises that bills more than ever.
Quality tourism is at odds with overcrowding and, therefore, with the short-term "successes" of the hospitality industry. In Benidorm there are a thousand equally mediocre sites that will invoice a lot but from which quality tourism runs.
It is necessary to go against the massification, NOT to the train, NOT to tourist fittings, to watch that they do not do night in the beach with the caravans, NO more campsites, NO more hotels, NO more apartoheles, NO more apartment blocks, than most of the people who come to Javea come to your house. Sounds elitist because unfortunately it is, because if Javea wants quality tourism, it is of a high and select level, fleeing from the "successes" of hospitality. You can't blow and sip at the same time.

    • Juan Ramón says:

VERY AGREED ... What is happening in Barcelona, and begins in other cities, that anti-tourist sentiment, can happen here if the authorities do not stop this expansion. When they start to puncture the wheels of foreign vehicles, everyone will tear their clothes. It does not have to come to that, but politics must provide the solutions.

  2. Juan Ramón says:

An urban bus that connects the three nuclei and the rest… urbanizations, is what is needed

  3. Xabiero Afuanero says:

Lss parties as Cande says are good for the hospitality industry, but dire for the rest of the trade.
