Xàbia participates these days in the European Security Week held in Nice (France). This meeting, completely subsidized by the European Union´s Internal Security Fund-Police, is part of the activities of the international PACTESUR project of which the municipality is a founding member for a year after being selected along with other 11 European tourist cities such as Nice, Liege or Turin, among others.
The objective of this movement is to share useful experiences and protocols to keep up to date and find the most effective formula in something as important as security, a basic social and reputational need.
Mayor, José Chulvi, and the Councilor for Security, Pepa Gisbert, they are representing the municipality in the first part of this meeting that aims to lay the foundations for a network of support and collaboration between municipalities in the event of any contingency or threats such as terrorism. Chulvi presented to Xàbia yesterday, the needs and demands that, in terms of security, have a society such as the local and available resources, as well as the way to coordinate and organize to offer the best service.
At the technical level are the Police Mayor, José Antonio Monfort, and the agent Fernando Gaona, who will participate in one of the discussion tables on the difficulties that emergency services face in communicating with citizens in case of emergency and what type of platforms are appropriate and useful in guaranteeing the citizen security during a crisis situation.
During the European Security Week police tactical exercises, group work, presentations and conferences with international experts will be held.
As the municipal managers have explained, the participation of Xàbia in the PACTESUR demonstrates the commitment of the Town hall in terms of prevention and training, as well as the will of the Local Police to be aware of the new threats to collective security and prepared to face the challenges that arise from them.
