One of the biggest problems that Xàbia Local Police officers have had to face this past summer was noise complaints. In hundreds of homes, most of them tourist rentals, parties were set up with crowds of people that lasted until the wee hours of the morning.
This fact caused the Local Police to receive a total of 1.673 noise complaints, reaching nearly 40 homes in one night. Of the total number of notices, 377 ended in complaints and another 68 in minutes filed with the Ministry of Tourism for being tourist rental homes. But this event goes further; and it is that, on many occasions, the tenants of these chalets or apartments refuse to identify themselves or open the door before the arrival of the agents, for which reason they cannot proceed to sanction.
That is when the coordination of a protocol for the regulation of joint measures between the Local Police and Tourism has begun. As of this next one, it is expected that the new system will be in operation in which the tenants can be identified or the operator of the dwelling who must provide the data of the residents or in case of refusal, the tenant will be sanctioned. owner of the house and the tourist license can be withdrawn if they are repeat offenders.
We had 2 neighbors in our neighborhood renting out. What a nightmare. Tried to reason with the owners and were blamed ourselves… Broken bottles in the street and garbage! At least the police did come and sent people home when there were more people than allowed. The council should sanction the owners and take away their license when repeat offenders. Zero tolerance!

What there is is a lot of clever defrauding many of them foreigners who come here and the first thing they do is buy to rent without a license and without taking into account the Laws, their obligations and responsibilities.
Congratulations! That the owners give the tourists a letter of duties where it is written when they can make noise and when not. We are tired of arguing every time with drunk people who had no Spanish or who have no education. Being on vacation does not mean having the right to disturb others who work during the day and want to sleep at night.

Another idea to improve the situation: the person who gives his house or apartment to tourists for vacations would have to give these tourists a piece of paper where the rules of coexistence are written. From a certain time, silence and calm. I work all day also in summer and when the tourists have parties I wanted to sleep. I have had to get angry more times because the people who have rented houses near mine were real… I don't say what.
