Next June 3 will be held in the Placeta del Convent a regional meeting of patchwork fabric, which is carried out jointly between the Town hall and the Association of Housewives of Jávea. Around 50 people from the entire Marina Alta will participate in this event that will take place from 17:21 p.m. to XNUMX:XNUMX p.m.
Councilwoman Tere Bisquert, remarked that this specialty is booming and fashionable, "It is also an important activity in the local economy". The mayor hopes that this meeting is the beginning "So that in years to come you can make a bargain with more than 300 people."
For its part, the president of the AMAPATCH Association, Elena Server, stressed that the regional association has 33 associated "Although there are more than 200 people who practice this type of craft work". The association has participated this year in a Trobada in Alicante and at the International Fair of Sitges.
Among fans of patchwork fabric, there are two men in the Valencian Community. One of them is Peter, a neighbor of the region, who has won national and international awards and the other man is Canals, Ximo Navarro, who is dedicated to making quilts, so he has received several awards.
For those who do not know the patchwork fabric, consists of gathering and sewing scraps of cloth to make countless articles; from a bag, t-shirt, table linen, mobile phone cases, dolls, "Everything that can be done on canvas, since it is a scrap work", say the professionals.
