The family of foreign artists Lambert arrived in Xàbia at the beginning of the 19th century and built his own paradise in Portitxol. André-Louis Lambert, an architect, studied the architectural elements of the most peculiar pieces of the villa, such as the façade of the fortress church of San Bartolomé or the Riuraus and disseminated them through the most prestigious magazines in Europe.

His son, André Lambert, illustrator and engraver, painted and thus documented many of the almost untouched landscape of Xàbia of the century, its people and their customs.

Now, the works created by father and son are the subject of an exhibition that stars in the cultural summer in Xàbia and that will be distributed by the Soler Blasco Museum, Casa del Cable, the Center d'Arts Lambert de la Casa de Tena and the headquarters of the Cirne Cultural Foundation.

Exhibition on Lambert in Jávea

La Councilwoman culture Empar Bolufer explained that this exhibition focuses more "in the production of the Lamberts on Xàbia with the vocation that the young generations know this family and their artistic background and also, encourage reflection on a recent period of local history".

To learn more about the work of the Lamberts, the Town hall has published a catalog of the exhibition that will be presented throughout this month of July and that has been possible thanks to the collaboration of the daughter and granddaughter of the protagonists of the exhibition, Milagros Lambert, who has also preserved the Portitxol estate through which dozens of schoolchildren have been able to pass this year to get to know its peculiar garden.

The exhibition "Xàbia and the Lambert 1920-2014" can be visited until the September 21 in four venues: In the Casa del Cable there will be a general presentation of the connection between the Lambert and Xàbia; In the Soler Blasco Museum, the father's works on the rustic architecture of Xàbia and its surroundings will be exhibited, while in the Casa Tena the work of the son Lambert is shown as an illustrator.

The Cirne Foundation, meanwhile, will concentrate the work of the architect André Lambert-Perret on his study of urban architectural heritage of Javea, Benitachell and Alicante. In addition, the Foundation has prepared tours for school visits to be held in September.

9 on Wednesday June the exhibition will open with a tour of the four venues which will include a musical performance of guitars and wind with works by Piazzolla.

Milagros Conference Lambert

The association Amics Museu de Xàbia has agreed to collaborate with this initiative by programming a talk on the life and work of the artist of the third generation Lambert: Milagros Lambert.

It will be on Friday, July 11, at 19:30 p.m. at House of Culture and it will be in charge of the gallery owner Isabel Bilbao. The talk will be in Spanish and with a translation into English.
