The MACMA has a new membership, the Vall d'Ebo

February 18 from 2020 - 00: 26

The full Town hall de la Vall d'Ebo approved the reincorporation of the municipality to the Cultural Commonwealth of Marina Alta (MACMA), after the appropriate procedures and once the plenary session of the Commonwealth ratifies the new entry. A decision adopted by all the groups of the Corporation, since, according to the mayoress, Leonor Jiménez, "The fact of reintegrating into MACMA was valued as beneficial for the people and their development."

The City Council of the Vall d'Ebo was part of the Commonwealth from 1999 to 2011, when the municipality separated from the agency in the framework of the economic crisis.

For the president of the MACMA, José Ramiro, who already visited the municipality twice during the last year to meet with the head of the Ebolino town hall, says that "This incorporation is part of the growth plan of the Commonwealth, which today includes not only Culture as a competence, but also Youth, Tourism, Education and Sports."

According to Ramiro, "the entrance of the Vall d'Ebo is great news for the entity and for the region, since from the MACMA the importance of the towns of the interior has always been valued within the perspective of the cohesion of the Marina Alta; in addition , the Vall de Ebo has an undeniable and growing tourism and landscape potential, represented in resources such as Cova del Rull, which celebrated the centenary of its discovery in 2019 ".

With the reinstatement of the Vall d'Ebo, the MACMA will be composed of 31 of the 33 municipalities of the Marina Alta, although the expectation, according to the president, is to reintegrate the two remaining municipalities during the current legislature and thus return to the initial state of 2011, when all the municipalities of the region were part of the body: «It is necessary to underline the importance of vertebrating the region from the associated point of view and this is precisely the current objective of the MACMA, given the new Commonwealth Law, that is to say , to strengthen and consolidate the weight of an agency that serves nearly 200.000 inhabitants of the Marina Alta ».
