Discomfort road Camí Cabanes

November 17 from 2014 - 14: 07

Since the Alicante Provincial Council's Infrastructure area repainted Camí Cabanes, there have been many complaints from the residents of the adjacent roads, from the closest departures and from the drivers who usually have to take this road to carry out his day; that he Town hall of Jávea, and this media in particular, have received in this regard.

Let us place ourselves: El Camí Cabanes is a long-haul road connects Javea to Benitachell and some of the items the municipality -históricamente- more difficult to access and extension (Les Adsubies for example). At the beginning of September, the Provincial Council of Alicante made a substantial modification of road paint drawing a long continuous line since its inception up to the fork in the road Cabo de la Nao, Camí Cap Marti Street Campaneta; to the roundabout that connects the road to Benitatxell. The driver traveling from Arenal by Cabanes can not, by any stretch, turn left unless you arrive until the end of the road, go around the roundabout and then take the road in reverse.

This trajín represents a considerable waste of time for those who have to access the left side of the road (always coming from the Arenal), hampers and slows access to all the neighbors who live on that side and consequently causes many traffic violations of those drivers in a hurry or is opposed to the new path. Residents of the area have chosen to perform strange maneuvers entering the roads are located to the right, along nurseries, farms and land and retaking the areas susceptible Camí by passing through one of the small dots dashed line there.

To verify this we wanted to accompany a neighbor who lives in the game Adsubies. We set the odometer at the entrance to Camí Cabanes at the height of the roundabout Street Hague and do the tour while respecting the solid line, signaling and turning in the rotunda of Poble Nou until the Camí de les Adsubies. The result was: 6,3 km made in a distance, without continued and the possibility to turn left at the desired point line would have meant 550 meters. Half an hour on a route that under normal circumstances, would be approximately 10 minutes. During the trip, we were able to see how vehicles obviates the dotted line and rotate when they reach the place they sought.

This action seems to be motivated based on the new safety canons of trying to avoid left turns on routes with poor visibility (Camí Cabanes has some but it is not the trend of the entire road). And to confirm compliance with this new signaling, residents of the area verify how the Civil Guard has witnessed the entrance of the roads on the left side to sanction all those drivers who, trusting, have skipped the continuous line to access with faster to these.

About this issue, Mayor José ChulviIt has held several meetings with officials of Provincial and Local Police has drafted a report thereon showing the difficulties the new painting presents and collecting the discomfort of residents. In both cases, still no response has been received.

Camí Cabanes was not owned by the Provincial Council of Alicante

From the local council claim that the fact that a road belonging to deputation "supposed advantages and disadvantages". The main advantage is that it "possesses no maintenance cost for the town" and the disadvantage that the City "loses control over them all."

However, as a curiosity, it is worth mentioning that the Camí Cabanes was not always owned by the council. City Hall, in previous governments, made a change to the provincial organ which gave the road between Javea and Benitatxell in exchange for full ownership Pla highway that was divided between the two agencies.
