The Civil Guard finds 50 illegal blocks of rough stone from Xàbia

August 23 from 2021 - 12: 49

The Civil Guard of Alicante has recovered 50 rough stone blocks from Xàbia valued at 1 euros that were in a junkyard in Dénia. For this reason, the authorities have investigated two men and a woman as alleged perpetrators of a continuing crime of theft of rough stone and the crime of fraud for selling the stones as if they were of legal origin.

The discovery of the stones was compounded by complaints filed by owners of plots located near the Gorgos River alleging the theft of rough stone. After that, the authorities opened an investigation that linked to a third unreported theft in a temporarily closed restaurant.

The rough stone is a calcareous sandstone rock formed by beach dunes, very typical of Xàbia. The extraction of this material began in Roman times and was prohibited in 1972. Since then, only those stones extracted before this date can be sold and reused.

How can a rough stone block be illegal?
Could you explain to me and then if that bothered me to read the article. I will bother as long as the explanation makes some logical sense to the headline ...
