La House of Culture de Xàbia yesterday hosted the presentation of the results obtained from the project Embark learns and vegetable production, undertaken by the family PERA. This initiative was an agricultural training campaign for children and young people to undertake the cultivation of greenhouse and open field vegetables. This project has been carried out in Babahoyo, Ecuador. Pilar Fernández and Eduardo Briones presented yesterday the results obtained in this project thanks to the collaboration and contribution of the citizens, mostly, residents of Xàbia. Briones said that thanks to the project DRIP, 3510 euros were obtained, which meant an 159% of the financing that was initially needed.
Through videos, the PERA family showed the audience the evolution of the greenhouse project as well as the sports project, financed by the Peña Valencianista for Solidarity, which provides funding for the equipment of children. The protagonists of this project explained the many funny anecdotes that arose during their stay in Ecuador and commented on the great values of learning that this type of activity entails.
Learning in agriculture and cultivation, motivation and happiness are the main objectives set by the PERA family through Learning and Entrepreneurship, although it is also a way for children to acquire knowledge in other subjects and better school performance such as for example in mathematics. "This project has a didactic component in addition to sensitivity to nature, they learn to work in teams and work the value of solidarity", said Eduardo Briones during the presentation.
As they told us, since they started this road, several years ago, the main purpose is being fulfilled and that is that the initiative continues once they stop teaching. "There is a continuity in the project, we leave in charge a person who has learned our methodology and they inform us of how it continues to work", indicated the PERA family.
