The exhibition "Sorolla in Jávea" opens at the Museum of Fine Arts in Alicante

This week the exhibition "Sorolla in Jávea. A costumbrista inspiration" was inaugurated at the Gravina Museum of Fine Arts (MUBAG) in Alicante. The six exhibited works from the Sorolla Museum reflect in their canvases traditional crafts of Xàbia as the "cordeler" or the "pansero".

As they assure from the MUBAG this set of artist's paintings is very little known and supposed a revolution at the time "in the interest of Valencian in transport light and atmosphere of his canvases Xàbia, losing all interest in the form and translating the chromatic wealth in truly free spots and Prodigious".

Sorolla sample is complemented by an information panel containing a text Archaeologist Xàbia, Joaquim Bolufer. In this panel the drafting process raisin and details of the work they did spinners explained. There are also two monitors with old photographs to contextualize the trades, two snapshots of Sorolla in Javea and transcription of a letter he wrote to his friend Sorolla Pedro Gil Moreno de Mora in 1900.

At the opening of the sample was present the Mayor of Jávea, José Chulvi, accompanied by the Deputy for Culture, Juan Bautista Roselló, the director of the Sorolla Museum, Consuelo Luca de Tena, and the technical director of MUBAG and curator of the exhibition, Joserre Pérez Gil. Both directors agreed that "are works painted by taste"that reproduce"special moments that were interesting to Sorolla".
