The Provincial Council joins the Geolodía this Sunday with explanatory visits to twelve enclaves of geological interest in the province

The Alicante Provincial Council will celebrate this Sunday, May 9, the Geolodía with a program of visits to different enclaves of geological interest in the province. This initiative, promoted by the University of Alicante together with the Environment and Water Cycle areas, aims to bring citizens closer to geological heritage and disseminate the work carried out by geologists, scientists and professionals.

In this way, the possibility of learning more about the natural spaces and monuments on the north coast of Alicante, the geology of the mountains in the interior of the province, the geological treasures of the city of Alicante or the living geology of the Vega Baja will be offered. of the Segura.

The Moraig Falla in El Poble Nou de Benitatxell, the Serra Gelada and Cap Negret Tunnel in Altea, the Font de Partagat in Benifato, La Font Roja in Alcoy, the tail of the Tibi reservoir, the Sangueta TRAM station, the Monte Tossal in Alicante, the Discondancia de Villafranqueza, the IMASA Laboratory in the Polígono La Vallonga, the Baños de San Antón spring in Orihuela and the Bajo Segura fault are the twelve spaces that have been included in the visit program.

In each of them different monitors will offer explanations. The sessions will last 30 minutes and five passes have been planned, which will begin at the exact hours between 09:00 and 13:00. Each of the five shifts has 20 seats and participants will be able to design their own itinerary, being able to participate in different outings, since many of them are geographically very close.
