The Minister of Justice, Interior and Public Administration, Gabriela Bravo, has attended a practical exercise in the search for people with RPAS - remote control manned air system - of the Valencian Agency for Security and Emergency Response.
The exercise began in the surroundings of the shooting range of Les Planes de Dénia, from where the aircraft used by the Agency have operated in emergency situations that require it. The aircraft have made simultaneous flights and have sent thermal images in real time of the observation area to the control area.
Gabriela Bravo has pointed out that "The use of this tool allows us to be more effective in people's safety", in the last emergencies he adds, "the drones have made greater efficiency possible, since they allow more precise access to certain locations and also continue to transfer information during night periods in which the aerial means of extinction cannot operate".
The Minister has detailed that drones are a very useful tool, "Initially they were awarded for the fight against fires, but when the Vega Baja was shaken by DANA they were used because they have a great capacity for viewing images in the most complicated places and for the help of people".
The RPAS Unit has transferred four drones for training that have been used to simulate a rural rescue in the Montgó area, where people are rescued repeatedly and during the summer season.
The simulation has consisted of the search for a missing person with whom it has been possible to verify the specific capacity to access places where the human being has it much more complicated and facilitate the images for the location of the disappeared person.
The drones were acquired in 2017. The one tested today, larger, has autonomy of 40 minutes and can reach up to 10 kilometers from the base. The small one has an autonomy of 30 minutes and a range of 5 kilometers. As for the plane, it has a range of 1 hour and a range of 20 kilometers.
Prior to the flight, the consellera has observed the photogrammetries of the areas affected by the January storm, in Xàbia and Dénia, and the modifications that have occurred in the field. He has also watched videos of the area made with drones.
