This coming Monday, May 17, the Alicante Provincial Court will judge two men accused of kidnapping and assaulting another to steal money and drugs. The events happened on July 25, 2019 around eleven o'clock at night when, with the excuse of talking about past issues, the two defendants met with the victim in a roundabout in Jávea.
According to the Public Prosecutor's Office, the injured man got into the car of the defendants who threatened him with a blank pistol and a knife to go to a villa in the town. Once in the house, the defendants introduced the victim into a basement, tied him up with chains that hung in a corner, and demanded money and drugs from him.
As the attacked man told them that he had nothing of what they asked for, the two men kicked and punched him all over the body and beat him with a baseball bat and an iron bar. They also used an iron to burn him. The attack lasted for hours until the two men discovered the keys to a house among the kidnapped's belongings.
Both went to that house, also in Jávea, from where they took a bag with 16.000 euros, a car, a telephone and two bank cards. Upon returning to the chalet where the victim was, they again attacked him as punishment for having lied to them. Finally, the man was released at eleven in the morning the next day. He suffered bruises, burns and a broken left leg.
The prosecutor asks for the two defendants a sentence of fifteen years in prison for the crimes of illegal detention, robbery with violence and aggravated injuries.
