José 'Miero' and Tomás Ruiz, proposed by Culture for the 9 d'October awards Vila de Xàbia 2018

17 July 2018 - 15: 50

The Culture Commission of the Javea Town Hall It has proposed as prizes October 9 Vila de Xàbia to two personalities who have made a great cultural career in the municipality.

In the award for Solidarity, the commission has proposed José Vicente Serra, known as Miero, as a prize 9 d'octubre for his commitment to Xàbia and for being a person linked to the environment. Miero is the current president of Civil Protection and activist member of the Excursionist Center where he has promoted social tasks such as the marking of several paths of our term, as well as the defense and dissemination of
our heritage values.

In reference to the award for civic values, the proposal is to Tomás Ruiz, a neighbor of Xàbia who for 50 years has carried out different cultural proposals in the town. As indicated by the Mayor of Xàbia, José Chulvi, "Ruiz promoted the first 'Ambolo' art room in the year 68, started the Llocs Lliures project and has been a person linked to the culture of the people." In 1972, he promoted a first-level landmark such as the exhibition of a collection of drawings by Pablo Picasso and is also one of the founding members of the group of artists from the Marina Alta De Reüll, still active today.

Both proposals were approved unanimously in the Culture Committee and will now be voted on the agenda of the next ordinary plenary session.
