Since last March, the works of the Xàbia Auditorium have been halted by the construction company, JOCA Engineering and Constructions. Although in a first assessment, it was suggested that the works were going to continue after the Holy Week celebrations, it was not like that.
After about two months without moving machinery and land, the Javea Town Hall regrets the evident delay that takes the execution of the municipal auditorium theater and that the construction company is not complying with the schedule of deadlines presented to the construction management.
According to they have affirmed from the consistory, "In the last months there are already several changes that this company has suggested regarding the initial project, all aimed at increasing the budget or its profit margin."
Before this action, the executive Xabi rejected frontally any modified and emphasizes that "When he offered the construction of the auditorium, he did so with a budget of 3,3 million euros. It was JOCA Ingeniería y Construcciones who voluntarily reduced this budget to 2.4 million and was forced to build it in these economic conditions."
At the moment, according to municipal sources, the construction company has not formally notified that it is going to desist from the work, although the current sensation, from the consistory, is negative and generates serious doubts.
The councilman of Culture, Quico Moragues, has been especially affected by the blockade of the theater auditorium and the lack of responsibility that the company is demonstrating. "It is a project in which both the Corporation, citizens and cultural groups have much enthusiasm deposited and the most important cultural level of recent years in Xàbia", said Moragues, therefore, it is planned to convene the Culture Council to inform them of how the situation is evolving.
Also, the mayor hopes that both the City and the company, JOCA, reach an agreement in the coming weeks and works resume, "Without that it means putting more euro or reducing the quality of the project", the councilor insisted.
Given the action that the City Council can take on this situation, it should be noted that it can not act hastily, since it is the Law that specifies the steps and deadlines to be followed in this type of situation, both when awarding and leaving without effect a contract.
