The municipal Department of Public Safety Xàbia has launched the summer special device to monitor forest areas in the municipality.
As explained Juan Ortolá, Coordinator of the department, this campaign will continue until 30 September and will be supported ten volunteers, seven of Civil Protection, which make the bulk of surveillance, and three firemen Balcon al Mar, which will strengthen the evenings and weekends.
The group will be coordinated with the local police and the local firehouse and among its tasks is monitoring compliance with the ban on lighting fires on forest land and natural spaces and the ordinance prohibiting fires in virtually the entire municipality, as well as monitor forest mass term.
From the Department of Security appeal to the public it is made to respect these rules and posted signs in parks and leisure areas of the municipality and the special instructions to be activated on days of maximum risk.
Likewise, citizens are reminded that their collaboration is essential when detecting a fire in the extensive municipal area. Therefore, it is requested that in the case of sighting a smoke column alert the emergency telephone (112) or the Local Police (96 5790081) immediately.
