El Javea Town Hall The restoration of mill number two located in La Plana after an arduous rehabilitation project. Some works to recover the architectural heritage of our municipality carried out by the Contrafforte Restauro company and whose costs, of 27.776, have been fully paid by the Generalitat Valenciana.
The work undertaken has been carried out with materials extracted from the mill itself that had fallen as a result of the passage of time. The construction, partially demolished, has revealed the existence of an old stone of the grinding wheel with which the wheat was crushed to turn it into flour. According to the director of Soler Blasco Museum, Ximo Bolufer, given the great weight of the grinding wheel, “it was common” to leave it in place when the mill fell into disuse.
After the intervention carried out in the mill number 2, which is added to the one carried out in number 8, the City Council will take advantage of one of the paid workshops that it will carry out together with the Servef to improve the state of number 1 and thus, conclude the general consolidation of the 11 mills, a distinguished monumental complex that outlines the daily profile of La Plana de San Jerónimo. In addition, the Museum has planned the conditioning that borders the entire group in order to facilitate access and improve the reflected point as a viewpoint.
