Fernando Ruiz is proclaimed new president of the Rotary Club Jávea

El Rotary Club Jávea Your new year has started. Since last Sunday, September 25, Fernando Ruiz has replaced Tony Mari in the presidency of the Rotary Club Jávea, after a meal at the Parador Nacional de Turismo, which was attended by the Mayor of Xàbia, José Chulvi, and in which the outgoing team took stock of their year and awarded the Paul Harris awards.

During the gala, Toni Marí's team, made up of Andrea Salerno (secretary); Ángel Palomar (Macero) and Ingrid Rodríguez (treasurer) made a balance of the actions carried out during the last year: 33 projects, 2.300 hours of volunteer work, 16.400 dollars raised, and a total value of donated goods and services of 28.200 dollars.

The outgoing president highlighted, among the events held in his legislature: the solidarity conference-dinner of Father Ángel and Aldo Olcese, the Marina Alta Sharing event and the continuation of a project started last year 'Improving the reproductive health of women in southern Honduras' and the urban garden at the Santa María Betania Day Center in Xàbia, which is the oldest of all.

Regarding the delivery of the Paul Harris awards; this year they have fallen to:

  • Pepe Crespo and Nicolás Merle (Comarca Sharing Project)
  • Nieves Marzal and Fernando Ruiz (Honduras Project)
  • Andrea Salerno and Toni Marí (for their dedication)
  • Rotary Club of Xativa

In addition, the board considered giving some recognition to society, being for:

  • Jose Juan Fornes (masymas)
  • Antonio Cidoncha (Cidoncha group)
  • Mercedes Gallego (Trans Castle)
  • Mireia Server (Roleser)
  • Irene Miralles (Saludent)

After the award ceremony, Toni Marí dedicated a few words to all those present, thanking them for their support "because your presence means that the Rotary wheel keeps turning", and gave way to the exchange of necklaces with Fernando Ruiz.

Ruiz gave a short speech and announced his work team for the cycle that has just begun. With him will work Ingrid Monte (secretary), Toni Marí (macero) and Ingrid Rodríguez who will continue to be the treasurer.
