04 March 2019 - 14: 51

Pediatricians and pediatric nurses from the Department of Health of Dénia are training Primary and ESO teachers from Marina Alta to solve some emergencies that may arise in their schools. The objective is to train in the management of pediatric emergencies in the school environment until the health services arrive.

The pathologies on which teachers are going to be trained are the most frequent clinical episodes, such as choking, wounds or the management of chronic pathologies (diabetes, celiac disease, asthma or allergies). The teachers of the Marina Alta will also receive training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation -RCP-.

According to DSD's Head of Pediatrics, Josep Mut, "The training of teachers is essential to be able to handle an emergency until health professionals can take care of the children. It is not about supplanting health care but about knowing a series of basic techniques to avoid situations that can become complicated ".

The training, organized by CEFIRE and taught by the Department of Health of Dénia, has begun with fifty teachers from four schools in Dénia although the training is expected to receive teachers from all centers of Children and Primary Marina Alta . Four annual editions will be given, divided by the same number of quarters.
