The Association of Pensioners and Retirees of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell held, on Sunday, a meal of brotherhood as a culmination to the Cultural Week of the Elderly. The act was also attended by the mayor, Miguel Ángel García, and the mayor's councilor, Jorge Pascual.
García said that "from the Town hall We claim their social role and we are on their side to meet their needs because without elders there is no future, they are the voice of experience, a source of wisdom and they have many things to contribute to us".
During the celebration, the president of the Association, Pepe Vidal, delivered a bouquet of flowers to the oldest member, which on this occasion was Maria Gilabert Devesa, of 88 years.
Acts of the Week of the Elderly
The meal was the closing of the Week of the Major. Seven days in which the Association of Pensioners and Retirees has lived intensely a week full of activities. It kicked off with an interesting nutrition conference last Tuesday, 16 in October, entitled: How like? of professor Manuel Gallar Pérez-Albadalejo and followed on Wednesday with the participation in the television program, Àpunt Directe, who made a live connection from the Social Center where the Association of Pensioners and Retirees had a popular hot chocolate.
Another activity was the trip to Xixona, where they visited the historic center and several turron factories and a museum. Finally, they enjoyed a theatrical comedy by Lina Morgan from The Seven Comedians in the
Social center.
