Next Friday, 15 of September, will begin in Jesus Pobre the VI edition of the International Short Film Show which will take place from 15 to 23 later this month. It will begin at 21 hours and three municipalities of the region will host the projections of a total of 41 films, six of them from the students of the Riurau Film School.
More than 380 short films have participated in this edition of the festival, with 316 short films of Spanish participation, of great quality, and 64 of other 16 countries like United States (8), Canada (2), Argentina (7), Brazil (3) (15), India (1), Romania (11), United Kingdom (6), United Kingdom (1), France ), Cuba (2) and Bulgaria (1).
The percentage of national shorts shows the recovery of the film industry in our country compared to previous years.
The RiuRau Festival consists of several sections such as: FILM LGTBI, FILM OF DANCE and FILM OF FICTION, in addition to the short films section of the RIURAU CINEMA SCHOOL, which enter the contest together with the section of Fiction that in addition, this 2017 counts with two additional sections: the JUNIOR section and the IMMIGRATION FILM section.
Projection Schedule
The festival will open on Friday in the Gran Riurau de Jesús Pobre with the projections of Film de Danza, Film LGTBH and a part of Film de Ficción and will continue on Saturday the 16th in the Jardines de Torrecremada in Dénia with the sections of Film de Immigration and a second part of Ficción and Escola Riurau de Dénia.
On Friday 22 and Saturday 23 in September the Festival will screen at the Riurau d'Arnauda de Xàbia, Fiction Film the first day and the rest of Fiction films, Junior Section and Escola Riurau de Xàbia the second. All projections will start at 21 hours.
The shorts received, after selection, go to contest choosing the prizes of the different categories granted by a specialized jury. At the end of the projections will be awarded the special sections of each day in Jesus Pobre (Dance and LGTBI) and Denia (Best Director and Immigration) and at the end of the 23rd in Xàbia / Jávea the awards ceremony for Fiction, Junior and students of the School of Cinema Riurau will take place. The Festival also has the collaboration of BALEARIA this year for the Prize from Film Junior.
Parallel activities
Parallel to the festival, as in previous years, the festival will IV International Meeting of Film of Dance and LGTBI organized by the Center Coreogràfic of Dénia that will take place in the Plenary Hall of Jesus Pobre on 15 in September to those of 11 to 14 hours and will have the participation in the round table of Carmen Sánchez Ruano and Maria Roge and will have Anna Perles, who will act as moderator.
In addition, the Film Workshops will also take place this year on 20 and 21 days from September from 18 to 21 hours, consisting of a basic script, filming and editing workshop for all those who want to approach for free to discover how to make home theater. The workshop will be in charge of Professor Pablo Jurado and Marta Lorenzi, from l'Escola de Cinema Riurau.
