The Dénia Health Department -DSD- has created new multidisciplinary work teams to adapt to the pandemic and carry out an exhaustive monitoring of the 4.000 cases of contacts and positives for coronavirus that are currently in the Marina Alta.

During the peak of the pandemic, professionals from the different specialties offered at the hospital have transformed their activity by dedicating a good part of their day to providing support to colleagues in Primary Care, in monitoring patients with coronavirus.

In this sense, the manager of the DSD, Luis Carretero, has highlighted "The flexibility offered by some healthcare management models so that each professional can carry out their task where they are most needed". Carretero thanked the professionals “Their predisposition, sense of public service and ability to adapt to
circumstances, since thanks to joint effort and teamwork, we have managed to maintain, in all healthcare settings, acceptable saturation ratios during the peaks of the pandemic ”.

According to the Director of Primary Care, Dr. Antonio Barceló, “Every day we have a group of doctors to collaborate in the bags of hours generated by each Health center. So first thing in the morning these professionals can be supporting those in the basic area of Teulada and at noon to Pego ”.

In this way, adds Dr. Barceló, “We managed to complete the follow-up of agendas in the early afternoon and thus attend, according to protocol, to COVID patients. From that time on, the Continuous Care teams are the ones who take over the activity ”.

Currently, the DSD health teams monitor 1.600 COVID patients daily.
