According to information section served by the CCOO in the Marina Alta, the High Court of Valencia, has qualified as inadmissible the dismissal of nine workers and an operator Hotel El Rodat in the month of November 2013.
The company that managed the hotel changed the terms of contracts with their employees, from being indefinite to permanent seasonal. A measure accepted by some but not by others, who were those who came to report their situation and after trying to access the hotel were prevented from passing.
Given this situation these employees decided to take legal action in defense of their interests and backed by CCOO. Valencia High Court of Justice has given reason although it may file an appeal. The employer has two options; one readmit workers or pay the appropriate compensation.
Since the union has welcomed the sentence, "It is important because of the serious situation they were suffering workers / is this five star hotel due to management and how to execute work organization that flagrantly violates the rights of the workers we represent highlighting the grave gender inequality affecting such an important productive sector and a high proportion of working women".
