The noise of a generator causes complaints from the residents of Xàbia

January 29 from 2021 - 10: 14

The continuous buzzing produced by the electric generator that provides energy support to a mobile phone tower has caused the neighbors, residents of Roma Street where it is installed, to process their complaints.

The beginning of this complaint dates back to almost six months ago, specifically, to September 1, when one of those affected presented, by check-in, his complaint about noise and requested that the problem be solved, "since the operation of the generator, during 24 hours, does not allow us to sleep", indicates one of the neighbors.

Before this request, and two months after the presentation of the complaint, agents of the Local Police of Xàbia carry out up to three acoustic measurements, which confirm that the noise is higher than legally allowed up to 80 meters from the emitting source.

Thus, from the activities department, as explained by the councilor for Urbanism, Isabel Bolufer, to this writing, "A file was opened to the responsible company notifying it that it should adopt measures so that the noise does not exceed the allowed decibels".

But at the same time, and as Bolufer has pointed out, the energy supplying company requested a minor work permit to be able to carry out the appropriate works to bring the light to the tower and thus avoid the generator, "but up to now, the file provided has deficiencies, which the company has not corrected." Due to this fact, the license has not been granted.

Following the delay, residents request an imminent solution, "That some measure be taken to soundproof or at least take any action that reduces the loud sound produced by the generator all day long".

Waiting, now, is the next step of the operating company.
