Mayor, José Chulvi, and the architect, Ulrike Wehr, presented, this morning, the preliminary draft of the Lighthouse Cabo de San Antonio to be the Interpretation Center of the Marine Reserve. Chulvi has explained that except for the lighthouse, the rest will be open to the public with exhibitions and screenings, "Since in addition to being the Interpretation Center of the Marine Reserve it will be the reception point of the Natural Park and even talks and conferences related to the environment can be made."
At the moment, the Town hall has obtained the assignment of the use of the lighthouse to be able to carry out the drafting of the basic project, in which it had to be the owner.
For his part, Ulrike Wehr, has expressed his satisfaction and enthusiasm for the work done and explained that the rehabilitation affects the two buildings that comprise the enclosure where the lighthouse is located, which are very deteriorated due to being unused.
The project
The project to convert the Lighthouse into Interpretation Center starts from the paved road to access the two buildings. It is contemplated, according to the architect, a central square for cultural and school events that includes resting benches, a botanical garden with the Montgó plants and a circuit that surrounds the lighthouse and allows you to enjoy the spectacular views of the cliffs, "In the second building there will be public toilets and a cafeteria, in the main building there will be a shop with an information point and an exclusive access to the lighthouse will be enabled". In addition, Wehr's main objective is to preserve all its essence, with its unique architectural elements and initial colors. In total they are 460 m2, 360 of the main building and 100 of the second building (which was a workshop and garage).
Ulrike has added that the two reservoirs will be recovered to reuse water in the bathrooms and solar panels will be placed in the second building. The execution project is budgeted at more than one million euros and includes a deadline of works between 9 and 12 months.
