El Poble Nou de Benitatxell already has a blueprint for the design of the new multicultural building. The architectural firm of Jorge Antonio Ruiz Boluda and Paul Dieterlen Escoto has won the comxicotetion. The jury chose between 89 projects submitted to consider the most functional, versatile, sustainable and better integrated into the urban environment. The plot optimizes performance and cost is also adjusted to the municipal budget.
The project understands the building and its external space as an indivisible binomial to generate a quality pubic space in the heart of the town. The proposal proposes the combination of three elements: the sloping roof, the finished in light tones and the ceramic lattices changed in scale. The accessibility as well as the rapid evacuation of the users of the main space make it functional. The versatility is solved with a retractable grandstand system and mobile seats that enable other uses of the main room, including the direct relationship with the outer space.
The requirement of energy efficiency is equipping the building roof with solar panels, the installation of geothermal energy and utilization of rain water in a tank for further treatment and reuse as providing toilets, air conditioning and for supply in case of fire. The project also includes cost containment during execution.
The building in the city center will be built in an urbanized plot of 637 2 m217.800 whose purchase by the mayor formalized euros in the previous legislature. Its location is excellent for the use of natural energy. It is very well oriented and enjoys many hours of sunshine and light.
