The Institut Valencià de la Joventut (IVAJ) has agreed to suspend the youth volunteer camps for the 2020 campaign year 'Viu la solidaritat', in the spring and summer calls, due to the situation generated by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The declaration of the state of alarm and its successive extensions have led to the adoption of extraordinary measures, which means that it is impossible to process the tender for the corresponding contracts and carry out the youth volunteer camps in summer.
Likewise, the IVAJ will proceed to the refund, ex officio, of the fees for the registration of the spring fields that were to be developed from April 10 to 20, 2020. This measure, published in the Official Gazette of the Generalitat Valenciana ( DOGV) is adopted also coinciding with the expected date for the registration of the summer camps, which was April 27.
Thus, the resolution that suspends leisure and cultural activities or trips, organized by social and educational centers of any level, association, cultural entity or others to limit the spread and contagion by COVID-19, is addressed.
Annually, the IVAJ organizes the youth volunteer camp program, within the campaign 'Viu la solidaritat', which allows young people to volunteer on projects in the Valencian Community, in other autonomous communities and in foreign countries in three calls: spring, summer and winter.
The camps bring together a group of young people from different backgrounds who commit themselves, voluntarily and selflessly, to develop a project with social content in favor of the community, combined with complementary animation activities. Carrying out the project is a means of promoting values of coexistence, tolerance, participation, solidarity and intercultural learning.
In 2019, more than 600 young people from the Valencian Community participated in 'Viu la Solidaritat', both in fields in the Community and through the exchange of places that is carried out with other autonomous communities and with the International Volunteer Service (SVI).
