The Department of Sports coordinates, from this week, the transfer work of the two paddle tennis courts located so far next to the Palau d'Esports Municipal. The courts will be dismantled to free this plot, where the municipal swimming pool will soon be built and will be reinstalled in the sports area of Les Mesquides.
The work began with the preparation of the new site, including the installation of new lighting. Then the tracks and their glass enclosures will be moved.
As explained by the sports councilor, Alberto Tur, the works have been planned so that the runways can remain operational until the last minute.
The project, with a cost of 38.700 euros, is one of the preparatory steps for the construction of the municipal indoor swimming pool, a work in high demand for both its sports and therapeutic utility and which is already in the award phase. The Consistory is evaluating the proposals of the three companies that submitted to the public tender to build it.
The pool has an output budget of 5 million euros, of which 3 million will be financed by the Generalitat. The infrastructure will have two swimming pools and an activity room for gymnastics and physical maintenance.
The main pool (25 meters long by 12,50 wide) will be multipurpose and the secondary one (12,50 by 10 meters) will be dedicated to teaching complementary or familiarization activities to swimming, both for children and for children. for adults, and especially to rehabilitation swimming. It will be approved to host provincial comxicotetions, with a three-row grandstand, changing rooms suitable for teams and a small cafeteria.
