Jávea Town Hall manifests against the abortion bill

February 01 from 2014 - 00: 00

Last Thursday the first plenary session of the year was held in Jávea. Among other things, the City Council of Jávea approved a text in defense of the free decision of women and against the new regulation of the voluntary interruption of pregnancy. This new regulation was approved in the form of a preliminary draft on December 20 by the Council of Ministers. Empar Bolufer, mayor of Equality of the City Council of Jávea, presented a motion in the plenary session in which he assures that "Spanish women have two choices: abortion outside Spain if they have resources to do so or abort in Spain under clandestine conditions with the consequent risk to your health and your life"In this sense, the motion reflects that if this reform goes ahead, women will have two rights taken away."the free decision and health".

With the motion it was approved to recognize the right to a freely decided maternity, which implies, among other things, that women decide about their pregnancy and that this conscious and responsible decision be respected. The government is also asked to withdraw the draft reform of the abortion law announced by Minister Gallardón and to renounce the regression that its approval would entail. The PSPV, Citizens for Jávea, four non-attached councilors, one councilor from Compromís and three from the Popular group voted in favor. The mayor of Compromís, Pepa Chorro and those of Xàbia Democrática, Juan Luís Cardona and Pere Sapena, abstained. The only one to vote against was Óscar Antón, a member of Xàbia Democrática.

Another one of the motions that was collected in the plenary was the one presented by Compromís in which the historical debt of the State with the Valencian Community accumulated between the years 2002 and 2012 is claimed. The text was approved unanimously and urges the Consell to claim Legislatively the 13.449 euros of this historical debt. Another of the issues that were approved during the plenary session was to present allegations to the document related to the Prevention of Flood Hazards of the Valencian Community since it does not have "sufficient rigor"In this sense, the Consistory demands that the areas affected by flood hazard covering a large part of Jávea that is close to the Gorgos River be studied in more detail.
