13 December 2014 - 00: 00

El Town hall of Jávea, from the Departments of Public Safety, Services and with the contributions made by the Urban Planning and Agrarian advisory councils; He has created a new municipal ordinance for coexistence and citizen security that intends to replace the one that, until now, was in force and that dates from 1953.

The proposal updates, modifies and adapts the articles of the old ordinance to the times we live in today and contemplates new realities in order to be able to respond -within legality- to problems such as bottle noise, abandonment of parcels, vehicles or animals, civility and decorum in public places, unauthorized street vending, non-compliance with the red tray on beaches and a long etcetera.

It is an instrument that seeks to protect the use of public space "as a place of coexistence and civility in which citizen activities that respect the dignity and rights of others can be developed with full freedom", explained the Mayor of Jávea, José Chulvi.

The new municipal ordinance plans to replace the 1953

José Antonio Monfort, Inspector of the Local Police, has ensured that if the proposal is approved by the plenary session, "it will speed up the mechanisms and facilitate the response to alleged cases that the current ordinance did not contemplate." Once presented to the rest of the councilors, a period of allegations will be opened for a month in which all those requirements and suggestions that the corporation values will be collected to achieve a final document of quality and coherence.

The 189 articles of the ordinance limit actions that threaten the dignity of people or involve visual degradation of the urban environment -such as graffiti, banners, posters and brochures in public places- It also seeks to regulate activities such as betting, intrusive begging, offer and demand for sexual services, the realization of physiological needs, noise that may disturb, the consumption of alcoholic beverages in the street, unauthorized street trading, vandalism attitudes against street furniture, obligations when organizing public acts and other behaviors that may disturb citizen coexistence.

Another section deals with the cleaning of public areas and the collection of urban waste, as well as the sanctions and specific interventions corresponding to each one of them. Others regulate the cleaning of buildings, plots of land and plots, the use and enjoyment of beaches and coastal areas and the possession of companion animals and their limits in public areas.

I hope this is the occasion to control the biological waste "poops" of dogs that some owners of them leave without collecting on the sidewalks and other places of walk. This lack of respect for the environment and ordinary citizens means that pedestrians have to be attentive to what we step on instead of contemplating and enjoying our surroundings.
