The National Police has arrested in Dénia a couple allegedly dedicated to the commission of "Loving thefts". The events occurred last Friday 17 day when one of the injured was taking a bike ride through the town of Dénia, when a young girl approached him saying that she was lost. The injured, 72 years, stopped and got off the bike to explain where he was, when suddenly the young woman grabbed his wrist to try to steal a high-end watch valued at 9.200 euros.
Faced with the victim's refusal, there was a struggle in which a man appeared from behind, who jumped on him with two knees in the abdomen causing his fall. Once on the ground, he subtracted the watch and both fled in a vehicle.
Four days later, the following Tuesday they repeated the events, this time on the terrace of a social center in Dénia. On this occasion, the alleged author approached her partner, who was previously in the place and hugged him. He then addressed his victim on the pretext of apologizing for having turned his back on him and gave him another hug.
When the injured arrived at his house he realized that he was missing a gold chain and a medal that he wore only a few minutes before.
After studying both complaints and practicing various investigative procedures, the agents concluded that they were the same alleged perpetrators, quickly identifying them and verifying that they had 14 police records for similar events, so they established a search device that ended the next day with the location and detention of both people, accused of committing a crime of robbery with violence and another of theft.
The two detainees, a woman from 18 and a man from 27 years, both of Romanian nationality, were placed at the disposal of the acting Court of the Dénia Guard. The investigation was carried out by agents of the Judicial Police Brigade of the Police Station of the National Police of Dénia.
Modus Operandi
In this criminal modality, the presumed author previously established the preferences of election over the future victims, being generally people of advanced age. Once the victim was chosen, he approached her, earning her trust with all kinds of tricks or pretexts to start a conversation, thus initiating a direct and concealed contact with the parts of her body where they carried valuables.
In a few seconds and without being aware of it, they were able to subtract anything of value that the victim carried with them. In addition, in most cases, the injured are not aware that they have been victims of a theft, sometimes thinking that it is a loss and not a theft. In case the victim was aware of the maneuver, the other detainee did not hesitate to use violence
Talks-Greater Security Plan
The National Police prevents this criminal modality through talks in associations and centers for the elderly of Spain, activities framed within the Greater Security Plan that is carried out at national level by the different delegations of Citizen Participation.
