Since the health alert for the coronavirus began, it has been highlighted that older people are the group most at risk from this situation. In the Valencian Community there are a total of 24 residences, as indicated by the Minister of Health.
A few days ago, Ana Barceló confirmed the outbreak that has occurred in nursing homes in the Valencian Community, "situation in which we must take precautions and focus all our efforts on containing the virus, since we are facing people with greater vulnerability and are spaces of coexistence and contact between them", indicated the counselor.
In this situation, since Xàbia.com, we contacted the Residencia Hermanos Cholbi de Jávea, to find out how the health alert is being lived. "At the moment there are no incidents, although we do have an isolated person because four days ago he began to have a cough", they explain from the Asylum.
As they point out, the isolation of this resident was only as a preventive measure, "And daily we are in contact with the hospital to monitor his evolution, although everything indicates that it is a simple cold, since he has not had a fever in the four days or respiratory failure."
Internal protocol
Likewise, from the Xàbia residence they indicate that, internally, for two weeks, they made the decision to avoid the visit of relatives "and the protocol was established for external personnel who provide service to the residence to enter through the lower part without entering the facilities where the residents are to avoid any type of contact. In addition, we disinfect daily with bleach to prevent it."
"We have a lot of staff working and we are aware that there is a probability that one becomes infected and can transmit it without knowing it, but we are maintaining all the prevention measures set by Health", manifest from the Residence.
Regarding sanitary material, "We have all the teams and from Health have called asking what we use daily and how much, we understand that to supply us in the coming days".
Also, the Minister of Health has clarified in his appearance that Public Health and the direction of the Health department are in permanent contact with the residences to cover all needs.
At a regional level, Barceló has indicated this Monday that of the 24 residences, three have suffered outbreaks. In total, there are 103 residents who tested positive and 53 workers, and 196 workers are in quarantine. "We must regret the 30 deceased residents", says the minister.
