The new data update provided by the Ministry of Health on the evolution of the coronavirus shows a significant increase in new positive cases in the Marina Alta. The Dénia Health Department has recorded 466 new infections since last Tuesday, being again the highest number of positive cases registered in this fifth wave. The new conditions bring to 11.869 the total number of people who have contracted the virus since the start of the pandemic. Of the total, there are currently 1274 cases that are still active in the Marina Alta.
In this way, the accumulated incidence in the region has shot up by about 200 points, reaching 746,67 cases per 100.000 inhabitants, which continues to be at extreme risk of contagion.
In the case of Xàbia, the number of new positive cases has also increased, considerably, since the last day with 74 new infections compared to the 44 registered on Tuesday. Xàbia currently has 179 active cases out of the 1783 that it has agglutinated since March 2020. With respect to the accumulated incidence, it has also increased from 478,30 to 638,92 cases per 100.000 inhabitants.
The good news is that one more day there is no record of deaths in the Dénia Health Department.
