The school children that make up the Consell dels Xiquets de Xàbia have attended the presentation, in Valencia, of the draft of the Children's Law that incorporates 98 proposals agreed by the councils. These contributions, which account for almost half of the Law, specifically an 44%, were carried out in a conference held this summer in Piles.
El Consell dels Xiquets de Xàbia he has been the representative of the province of Alicante to work on the preliminary draft of the Law on Children and Adolescents that is being drafted by the Department of Equality and Inclusive Policies. A regulation that goes from treating children as objects of protection to considering them full citizens and encourages their participation as active citizens in public life.
The students have been accompanied by the mayor of Education and Citizen Participation, Montse Villaverde, who has explained that the children of Xàbia, with Ferran Pascual Almansa as spokesperson, were elected representatives of the province for having the participatory experience that is promoted and encouraged by the local government for six years.
Among the proposals included in the wording of the Autonomous Children's Law are: We will seek that parents have time to take care of their children, development of skills; so there will be programs to make proper use of ICT, school homework will be compatible with the right to leisure and schools will include emotional, sexual and emotional education.
