El Mayor of Xàbia, José ChulviAnd the councilors of Services and Environment, Kika Mata y Doris Courcelles, held a meeting with Juan Antonio Gisbert, president of the Alicante Port Authority. At the meeting they conveyed to Gisbert the interest of the Town hall for turning the Cape San Antonio Lighthouse in an Environmental Interpretation Center of the Marine Reserve.
The mayor insisted on the suitability of this space, strategically located in one of the most visited areas of the Natural Park Montgó. It has good access for both walkers and vehicles. In addition, there is a need to promote a project of public utility and citizen service to occupy the facilities.
Chulvi reminded the president of the Port Authority discomfort generated by the attempt to privatize the building and turn it into a hotel.
Gisbert was very receptive to this idea as it agrees that it is best to focus on the lighthouse through a public use. He pledged to give their full cooperation to the session to process the project. It is suggested to follow the model of the Faro del Albir, a facility that councilors have already visited Xàbia to extract ideas.
