Filà Bandoleres: how it was created, who forms it and what are its statutes

20 July 2023 - 06: 51

The Filà Bandoleres is the last filà that has been constituted in the Fiestas de Moros i Cristians de Xàbia. Its start was founded in 2023 with its first participation in the Mig Any celebration. The Filà Bandoleres is characterized by being a squad made up only of women and being the second in Xàbia with this status, behind the Filà Xibia (Moorish side) which, currently, is the only one made up entirely of women. In this way, Bandoleres would become their namesakes on the Christian side.

Next you have an index with all the points that we are going to deal with.

History

La Filà Bandoleres faces the beginning of what will be its history from a few years on. At the moment, its creation is given by chance. One day, in the middle of a conversation without great pretensions; one of its members sowed the seed: "Why don't we form a new line?" All of them were already fascinated by the Moors and Christians festival and longed to stop being spectators to start living it from within. So they got to work.

From the first moment, the Filà Bandoleres has the full support of the Moors and Christians Board, which allows it to promote the new filaes and offer them facilities for their consolidation during their first years of existence.

Name

The fact that they are a Christian filà has been given, on the one hand, by the internal regulations of the Junta de Moros i Cristians that advocates maintaining a balance between the two sides for a greater brilliance and variety of the festival, so This new filà had to be Christian, an issue that did not matter to the filà, quite the contrary, they were clear about the type of filà they wanted to be, bandit style, hence their name, 'Bandoleres'.

Characterization

The bandit style in the Moros i Cristians festivities gives off a lot of power and is perhaps one of the most marked. Especially in the case of the female squads. Similar to that of the smugglers, it is rooted in the character of the south with numerous Andalusian reminiscences.

Their parade is light, dynamic, elegant, colorful and with a lot of salt shaker, and they demonstrated this in their first Gala Parade.

For the Filà Bandoleres, the challenge was huge and "we have practiced a lot to offer a decent parade and up to the rest of the compañeros and compañeras from both sides who have been making the public vibrate for years".

Alternative

The Filà Bandoleres is made up, at the beginning, of 14 young women but they are open to welcoming from next year to all those people who want to be part of this Filà. "We would like more young women from the municipality to join in the coming years. We are an open and hospitable filà, new to this great party, but with great enthusiasm and desire."

clothing and banner

The colors that identify this row are already defined. Although they were left between watching the Mig Any celebration, they came to light definitively with the start of the Moros i Cristians 2023 festivities. The beige color and the colored stripes mark their identity together with the fan and the blunderbuss, emblems represented on their banner.

The members of the Filà have two everyday suits: the djellaba and a striped scarf on the head and the other suit made up of a vest and pants.
