02 October 2018 - 13: 25

The Teulada-Benitatxell Water Consortium, thinking of a future, starts the desalination works to guarantee the water supply in both municipalities during the next 10 years.

Last Thursday, 27 of September, the files were started to begin the capacity expansion works of their desalination plants to house 8.800 more cubic meters of water.

On the one hand, the desalination plant located in the municipality of Teulada-Moraira will increase its capacity in 6.000 cubic meters, since it will go from the 5.000 that now houses 11.000. On the other hand, the desalination plant in the municipality of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell will go from having 2.800 cubic meters of capacity to 5.800. These actions will cost close to 4 million euros.

The mayor of Teulada, Carlos Linares and El Poble Nou de Benitatxell, Josep Femenia, agreed that "With these important investments we can guarantee the future of water in both populations, which exceeds our first expectations. Even so, the neighbors must be aware that every drop matters. That is why we continue to launch awareness campaigns that, without a doubt, have also contributed, together with the actions and improvement works, to the efficient and rapid response that the consortium has given in record time since the drought of
2016"
