The Department of Education of Benitatxell is committed to a safe education against any type of violence or school discrimination. Therefore, he organized a talk at the school CEIP Santa María Magdalena about Prevention of bullying and cyberbullying aimed at students in fifth and sixth grade and taught by Oscar Sanchez Ruiz, who is local police officer (expert on gender violence and minors) and Bachelor of Criminology.
The goal, in addition to promoting a safe environment, is that school themselves learn to detect bullying even in less explicit cases and communicate with their teachers and their families.
In the talk, the students have learned that bullying can be physical: pushing, hitting, breaking someone's things or taking them away, verbal: insulting, putting motes, threatening or psychological, such as not letting participate, acting as if the other person was invisible.
They have also received information ciberbullyingWhich is the use of Internet, mobile phone or games to humiliate, assault, abuse, defame, abuse, threaten or discredit colleagues or acquaintances with similar age and prolonged.
From the Department have indicated that the phenomenon of bullying and ciberbullying they are experiencing an upward trend in educational centers and it is a reality that extends at a vertigo speed. Many victims of bullying feel isolated or helpless and do not even talk with their families about the hell they are going through.
The councilwoman of the area, Myra Van't Hoff, said that "Providing this information on physical and psychological harassment to schoolchildren is essential to provide them with skills and knowledge so that they themselves learn to detect any type of harassment and communicate it to those responsible for the school and their families.".
