Benitatxell enables a free shuttle bus to go down to the Moraig cove

29 June 2021 - 09: 39

Since last summer, Cala del Moraig has been a natural, car-free beach. After the Gloria storm and in order to preserve its surroundings, in 2020 Costas carried out a renaturation of the cove, and since then the vehicles have been banned from entering.

Last summer, with the little room for action caused by Covid-19, bathers walked down from the parking lot to the bathing area. But this year, to facilitate access and provide better service, the Town hall has set up a free shuttle bus that will take bathers up and down from the car park
to the cove every 15 or 20 minutes.

In addition, the bus will also make trips four times a day from the old town to the beach, and vice versa. This seeks to decongest the coastal area of vehicles and promote the urban center of the town.

Schedule

The shuttle bus will begin operating this Saturday, July 3. On Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, it will make the first departure from the parking lot next to the Municipal Cemetery at 9:30 a.m., and will return from the cove to the urban center at 14:00 p.m.

In the afternoon it will leave again at 16:00 p.m. from the cemetery and will return to the last bathers from the beach at 18:30 p.m. During the week, the schedule will be the same except for the first departure, which will take place at 10:00 a.m. instead of 9:30 a.m.

Access control without prior reservation

Given that this year the capacity has been increased and it is expected to minimize the impact of cars with the shuttle bus service, prior reservation will not be necessary, as was done last summer with the ParkingE App. This summer, during the months of July and August and the first half of September, there will be an access control next to the car park and once the capacity is completed the entrance will be closed until bathers come out.
