Poble Nou de Benitatxell is in mourning for the death of the deputy head of Civil Protection, José Antonio Ivars. From today, Sunday, April 5, and until Tuesday, April 7, the town hall of the town has declared, via decree, three days of official mourning.
This morning the funeral ceremony was held accompanied by his family and friends, taking the security measures recommended by the authorities at all times.
José Antonio was a very dear neighbor in El Poble Nou de Benitatxell. For some years he had been part of the local Civil Protection group, where as a public servant he had always been watching, with dedication and professionalism, for the safety of his fellow citizens.
His death has caused great consternation in the town. From the consistory they have conveyed their condolences to family and friends, as well as support for everything they need.
From this Sunday, the flags will fly at half-staff and this afternoon the Local Police officers and Civil Protection volunteers will not carry out their usual round of 20:00 pm as a sign of mourning.
