After the complaints of the residents of Xàbia, specifically of the street Italia and the Camí de la Soberana, by the modification of the vials of their zone of residence contemplated in the new General Plan and affecting private dwellings, the Mayor of Xàbia and the councilor of Urbanism have met with the neighborhood collective to find a solution.
Both neighborhood groups have moved their concern. In the case of the Camí de la Soberana, it was proposed to convert it into a two-way street with two sidewalks, increasing the amplitude to 12 meters and affecting private properties. After the meeting it has been agreed to reduce the amplitude dimensions to 8 meters and leave the vial in only one direction.
Likewise, Italia Street, in which a route of 16 meters wide that created a connection between the road of Jesus Pobre and the one of Gata and included direction in both directions, sidewalks and a bicycle lane, finally will be of 8 meters as stated in the PGOU of 1990 and will be of a single sense.
Also, regarding the Sovereign, the mayor has offered the association to leave the way in the PGOU as it is today, without changing an inch. However, since the association have defended the need to adapt it to the 21st century, that is, improve their safety with sidewalks and services such as public lighting or sewerage.
Chulvi has insisted that with the general guidelines set out in the General Structural Plan, now in the phase of exposure to the public and therefore open to changes and suggestions, the executive has room for these types of solutions.
The mayor has shown his willingness to negotiate such solutions that fit the idea of protectionist and sustainable urban planning that abanders his government: that makes compatible the defense of the territory with the future needs of the municipality and, above all, to ensure that Xàbia maintains its identity.
