During this week, parking in Cala de la Granadella or Cala de la Barraca (Portitxol) will cost 9 euros per day, as stipulated in the previous legislature. The new vehicle control system with paid parking will come into operation during the first week of August. The company responsible for this service has already installed the vending machines, and after carrying out the appropriate tests, they will come into operation.

The new paid parking system will be active until September 10, 2023, as well as on weekends - Friday to Sunday - in September and October until October 12.

Parking will be regulated with the presence of a controller per cove from 8:00 a.m. to 18:00 p.m. Likewise, the payment schedule for being parked on the beach will be from 9:00 a.m. to 19:00 p.m. It is only necessary to issue one ticket per day and per space.

parking spaces

The number of places may vary depending on the needs of the Xàbia City Council, although they have been regulated at the moment 130 places parking in Pic Tort Street (Cala Granadella) Y 59 places in the Calle de la Barraca (Cala Portitxol).

This measure is implemented in order to protect the natural environment since in recent years the number of visitors to both coves has increased, as well as an overload of vehicles.

Surveillance service

Regarding the security surveillance service and auxiliary services such as access control to the Granadella and Portitxol coves in Xàbia, awarded to the company Vectalia, the service began this past Saturday, July 29.

It should be remembered that this control was being carried out first by local police officers, and then by security guards, urgently hired until the start of operation of the company, to control the entry of vehicles and avoid accumulations.

Public transportation

Regarding the public transport service to access each of the coves, it seems that this 2023 will not be able to take place either. The company that was awarded the service met 100% of the requirements for the vehicles and to date no other company has been reported to carry out the service or that it has been tendered.
