Maximum alert on our coast for the arrival of a strong maritime storm

January 17 from 2020 - 14: 00

The State Meteorological Agency has issued a notice at noon on Friday alerting the forecast of extreme risk with respect to the maritime storm for next Sunday. For a few days, the alert that was expected from the AEMET was orange level with waves of up to 6 meters, but this situation is varied and elevated to red level.

As reported by the State Meteorological Agency, the storm Gloria It will be located between the eastern peninsula and the Balearic Islands, that is, on the Alicante coast, which together with the powerful European anticyclone, will favor the entry of a mass of cold air from the interior of the continent, which together with the humid entrance of the Mediterranean will cause snowfall at very low levels of the eastern peninsular third.

The wind forecast is from the north and northeast strong or very strong with gusts that could locally exceed 100/120 km / h. The state of the sea will be very adverse, with wind intervals of force 9 and 10 and waves that could reach 8 meters in the coastal zone. The AEMET highlights the likelihood of a high impact on promenades and northeast-facing coastlines. This situation will be accompanied by rainfall.
